Mulching is a good way to keep your plants healthy by keeping moisture in the ground, less watering is required. It also helps keep weeds out of your beds. For perennial beds 2” deep is enough, trees and shrubs should have 2" - 3”. Be sure not to put the mulch directly up to the trunk of trees.

To figure how much mulch is needed measure your beds.

Example: Your bed is 10’ x 10’, that equals 100 sq ft. Take the square ft and divide it by 108 for 3” of mulch. In this example you would need 1 yard.

Say you have 2 beds that are each 6’ x 30’, that would equal 360 sq ft. Divide 360 by 162 to figure out 2” of mulch, you get 222. I would order 2 ¼ yards of mulch.

So figure out your square footage and decide if you need 2 or 3”.

If you need 3”, divide by 108, the answer is in cubic yards.

If you need 2”. divide by 162, the answer is in cubic yards.
